The documentary one of the duel but followed in the Chess between the man and the machine.
In May of 1997, Garry Kaspárov, considered the best player for all time, played match against Deep Blue, a supercomputer, programmed by scientists of IBM with the unique intention to play the high level of chess. In a chess encounter, with shades of scientific experiment, "match" between Deep Blue and Kaspárov attracted the attention of million fanatics in the planet.
The surprise thing of the subject was the end of match. Kaspárov, in the sixth game of the encounter, played a line inferior and, for surprise of own and strange, Deep Blue it made a play that would be even routine for a great teacher, but spectacular for a machine: it sacrificed a piece by the attack. It is possible to indicate that this sacrifice is known for more than 100 years. Then Kaspárov, in spite of its masters, could not contain the attack of the machine and had to surrender less than in a twenty of plays. Ogro of Baku rose of the embarrassed board, without knowing how what to say neither how to explain that the machine, finally, had defeated to the best player of the world in match with official slow rate (2 hours for 40 plays, one more hour for 20 movements the more, and half an hour to finish the encounter). , Kaspárov protested at the time to IBM saying that the machine had had human intervention.
The specialist in chess computer science, Manuel Lopez Michelone (of Mexico), commented that she suspected whenever Kaspárov had been let win in exchange for possible a third encounter, still with more million dollars, but IBM simply rejected the proposal of the then champion of the world, and finally cancelled the project Deep Blue. The feat had been completed.
"Engrossing, tragic and above all, entertaining. See it!"
